Maximize Your Tax Savings with Resler's Tax Service

Required for All Clients

Government-issued photo ID
Social Security cards or numbers for all individuals on the return
Date of birth for all dependents
Copy of most recent tax return (new clients)

Income Documents (as applicable)

W-2s (all employers)

1099 forms (NEC, MISC, INT, DIV, R, SSA, etc.)
Unemployment income statements
Retirement or pension income documents
Other income received during the year

Self-Employed / Business (if applicable)

Income and expense records

Mileage totals
Business use of home information
Prior-year depreciation schedules (if available for new clients)

Credits & Deductions (if applicable)

Childcare expenses and provider information
Education expenses (1098-T) or (1098-E)
Mortgage interest (1098)
Property tax records
Charitable contributions

HSA contributions (1099-SA)
Health insurance forms (1095-A, if applicable)

Energy-efficient home improvements (receipts for qualifying upgrades such as  windows, doors, insulation, heat pumps, or electrical improvements)
Residential clean energy systems (solar panels, battery storage, or related installation documents)
Clean vehicle purchases (new or used — purchase agreement and dealer documentation)

New vehicle purchase after 12/31/24 (documentation required) 

IRS Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)

If the IRS has issued you, your spouse, or a dependent an Identity Protection PIN, please bring it to your appointment. An IP PIN is required to electronically file your tax return and applies to each taxpayer listed on the return. 

Do you offer tax consultations or tax planning?

Yes. We offer tax consultations to discuss tax-related questions, prior-year returns, and IRS or state notices. General tax planning guidance may be provided in connection with tax preparation when applicable. We do not provide legal or investment advice.

529 Plan Contributions

If you contributed to a 529 education savings plan, please bring documentation to your appointment with account numbers (required). State tax benefits may apply depending on the plan and contribution. 

New Client Reminder

New clients should bring a copy of their most recent completed tax return. This allows us to verify prior-year information and identify any major changes from the previous tax year.
